Stuart Beach Florida hit the news when sharks attacked a man near Stuart Beach at South Florida on Wednesday. The thirty eight years old kite sufferer was attached by sharks and lifeguards at the scene saw him struggling with a school of sharks in the water.
The spokesperson for Martin County Sheriff Office, Mike McKinley said that man was kite surfing before the attack and he was badly bitten by the sharks and was profusely bleeding when lifeguards spotted him.
WPBF recognized the man as Stephen Howard Schafer from Stuart. The man faced a cardiac arrest when lifeguards managed him ashore and he was pronounced dead by the hospital where he was taken.
According to International Shark Attack File, shark attacks are at a decline as these attacks were highest in number in 2000 and there were 79 reported attacks from sharks in that year. There were 59 attacks in 2008 at world level and 71 in 2007.
Interestingly out of 59 attacks in 2008, 41 attacks were reported from America and out of these 41 attacks 32 were reported from Florida.
The International Shark Attack File is a part of Florida Museum of Natural History and it suggests that 57 percent of victims of these shark attacks were surfers, 36 percent were swimmers and waders while rest were others.
The school of sharks navigating the Florida waters is a common scene and lifeguards there perform a twenty four hours surveillance duty to help people at the Florida beaches but some times sharks attack their victims so stealthy that everybody finds itself helpless to warn the victims of the danger.
